Sounds like your decision suits you and your DD circumstances just fine so it will probably work really well for you. As I said some of my friends do 4 hour days and love it. It doesn't suit my circumstances so I prefer the full day arrangement. Don't worry about it just now tho, see what happens it will all be fine in the end.

My DS cried everytime we dropped him off at nursery for about 2/3 weeks and I worried myself sick about it all. Then one day out of the blue he just turned and ran into the room and waved me off! He now loves it so much he protests when we pick him up! Whatever happens even if you don't like it you can usually change things around somehow... Good luck x

Thanks sparkletoes, I'm sure if it doesn't work out my boss would consider changing my hours. I'm dreading the crying so its good to hear that it gets better, I expect the day that she runs in and moans when its time to go home will upset me too. You cant win as a mother! I'm going to relax about it now and enjoy the time I have left on maternity leave x

Exactly! You need to enjoy the rest of maternity leave it is too precious.

You will both be fine in the end so as my dear old dad would say 'Dinnae fret lassie!'

I did 3 full days, get more done and ultimately the cost is less (if you can negotiate an hourly rate with the nursery instead of sessional). Take into account the cost of travelling for 5 days or 3, as effectively you are only getting paid for 3 days however you split it. My LO was 14 mths when I returned to work and the full days worked for us as although he was tired and keeping him awake in the car on the way home was always a challenge, he was fed, watered and only needed bath, cuddle and bed. Good when you're tired at end of working day. 5 half days seemed too stressful for me, because I couldn't face the thought of preparing tea etc everyday when I had been working all morning!
