Refused pt work - should I tell my boss I'm on anti depressants?

I'm depressed about being depressed! Refused for the second time to do Pt at school. Wanted to do 80% over 5 days so really just shorter days. Have 2 gorgeous boys. Feeling so overwhelmed with it all doc put me on citalopram. Now I can't sleep. Things are significantly worse. Should I tell my boss I'm taking these? Wouldn't it sound petty/ bitter? Help.....

Don't just tell your boss. Go to your doctor and ask what he thinks about your fitness for work first. If he thinks you should be signed off for a time, then do that. If he thinks working shorter days would benefit your health and prevent you being signed off completely, then that's obvious relevant and should be discussed with your boss.

I think just saying to your boss that you are on these drugs will put him/her in a difficult position, he/she won't know what that means or what you are implying. If you go to him/her with more information from a doctor about the implications for your work, then an informed decision can be made.

On a separate note, was this second time your appeal against the first decision or was it a new request? If so you can appeal it.

Speaking to doc on phone today and will see what she suggests. Not very good at asking for stuff myself....
On the other note this was a separate request, a year on from the first. I did say when I returned from maternity leave last April that I felt things would be more difficult with 2 children and I was promised a review after Xmas. Nothing happened so I rerequested in May this year. Again, there's the promise of a possiblity sometime in the future (maybe when they're at Uni???) but its not possible at the moment due to other staff changes. They need my 'stability'!!! Feel like chucking it all in - have done for the last year anyway. Sorry to rant ...

Don't worry, rant away!!

See what the doctor says and take it from there. Consider appealing your flexible working refusal as well if you do feel your job could be successfully managed on whatever basis you are requesting.
