Men - I will be flamed but here goes

I am 100% female. Ran a business for 10 years with 3 children. Just been reading a couple of threads here tonight about taking time off for kids being sick, because they are young etc.. etc...

Ok I know it is maternal instinct but what about the men in our lives????

When any of mine were sick etc... it always fell on me to rearrange and organise. Himself "I have to go to work" - when sometimes I was screaming "so do I!!!!!"

Men are entitled to parental leave, force majeure.

So why is it that more men leave it to the mother???

DH has almost as much time off with our boys as I do.

Thankfully my boss is quite flexible, and DH works shifts so that helps, but sometimes we have to work around his shifts. As he earns double what I earn, reality is that his job is more important, plus I do have greater flexibility, but he does his fair share all the same.

I had to take yesterday off as DS2 was ill, and DH had had a late shift change for court, but today he looked after DS2, before he went back to work at 6pm tonight.

Dh and I are joint breadwinners and try and divide things up evenly. Dcs are older which helps, and I get up to five days a year EPL (Emergency Parental Leave) which dh doesn't, but it's about 55%/45% for us.

its logistics in our case - there was a time when dh worked closer - he tok kids to school and picked them up and could have time off when they were ill - now he works far away.

for other people - i dunno - rods - backs?

because women let them maybe?? Not the case with everyone, I know. DH and I have always carved up such responsibilities evenly - after all, we're both parents!!
But sometimes women can be their own worst enemies in these situations.

My dh is in the Army - so really no choice when he gets deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan etc!
