Hi I’ve recently become a bank nurse after being a nurse for 22 years , the reasons why I bank are I was trying to get of nightshifts and I can only bank due to childcare/ older family commitments. I’ve been offered a 2 night a week contract in another. Nursing home in the same group I worked for.
I'm currently banking with nhs and care home.
Part of me wants to take the 2 nights as it’s a permanent contract and a reliable pay. The cons are I want of nights as I’m really struggling with lack of sleep, I can pick and choose my hours eg I’ve been working 7-1 dayshifts , weekly pay and more hands on nursing within nhs. The cons are not guaranteed shifts , touch wood I’ve been ok since becoming bank . The only pros I see is regular income . The cons are also it has a sex offenders unit which I feel uneasy about as I’m not trained in that line of work . Obviously I’d be professional but I’m also human and a bit chicken hearted

There will always be demand for flexible nurses. It feels insecure, but it's not really.

I’ve just read reviews from both staff and residents family , it’s going to be a big no from me! They were awful, I’ve got 2 jobs and touch wood I’m getting plenty of work from them
