Local authorities tend to do set questions that they ask each candidate - each question will be scored out of e.g 5 and you will have to hit certain buzz words to get a higher score.

It would be reasonable to expect a question about what knowledge and skills you bring to the job, a question with a scenario in it to ask how you would respond to a situation relevant to the role you will be doing, a question about equality and diversity (its good to know what kind of communities you will be serving and demonstrate that you know what the equality act is) and a question about how you manage your time and the pressures of the job. I expect that for a social care commissioning job there may also be a question about manging resources.

Whoever gets the most points gets the job providing they at least meet the mininum amount of points required to be appointable.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your response!
I really want this job but now I’m worried I won’t hit those buzz words. I’ve tried to make an effort to sit with their team, had chats with the hiring manager, really looked into the job and budgets and difficulties but it’s basically all about point scoring in the interview? Oh dear 😅

Local authority roles are all about the point scoring . Typically you'll be asked to 'talk through your cv' (highlight the parts that align with the key skills in the job description basically) and with commissioning it's likely to be questions around how you'd deal with difficult situations, the local authorities 'values' (they all have them) and very much the buzz words that go with that role (which it sounds like you've researched) just make sure to add them into each answer.
