How do I keep my motivation at work

My previous corporate job ended in burnout and I felt I wasn’t fully emotionally available for the kids.

I have a more relaxed job with nice bosses and people and not much stress. 4 days per week, 2 days from home; however the job is a bit dull and unchallenging. But not sure I want to start job hunting again and start a new job again.

I am in my 50s and want to retire in 3 years or do 2 days per week.

Honestly if you've nice bosses I'd stay put. I had to leave a job i loved because of flexibility being removed suddenly and micronagemenf. Good managers are hard to come by.

Boredom in work os hard but as you know yourself having a good manager is worth its weight in gold!

Is it that you have excess 'time' or that there's plenty to do but it's just not very interesting?

If time: try and max out your office days and be more leisurely on the wfh days. Some people will get their knickers in a twist but no reason you can't do a few jobs round the house, work in front of the tv, do personal admin etc.

If it's the work: have you tried listening to music or an audio book whilst you work? That sometimes helps me with motivation. Also trying to work in bursts:- 30 mins of focus and then a break etc.

This is what I am going to do as I am in not position to change jobs at my age and with current market.

Do you enjoy attending webinars/CPD? I've started packing my days with free 1 hour training sessions, some are fairly tangential to actual role 😆

I'm stuck with the same. I'd actually be happy with a busy day of dull work, but i don't have enough. Had to cover a holiday last week and it was the first time I'd been busy.

Been in the job a year after being sacked. Probably going to stick with it for now.

Be a shame if this was my last job though as I'd be retiring on a low..:)

I don’t mind retiring on a low anymore after my corporate job which ended in burnout. I just lost my mojo. Don’t feel I got the energy for a full on demanding job anymore.

Oddly enough I come home so tired! Then have no energy to do anything! Back to work and repeat
