Just a vent post. So I am currently working at a remote role for an organisation. Not much career progress but they are flexible for WFH. I get more holidays, have a good supportive team and managers, and I work part time according to my needs Pay is okayish and I do not get the london living allowance. Now I applied for a civil service job and got the offer. I applied for it as it said on the advert that they can consider part time roles. I have not accepted it yet because when I tried to negotiate part time role they have refused saying that I will need to work on site, from 9-5 , 5 days a week. My current role is from 9:30-2:30 as that works with childcare arrangements for me. Pay is more than double than what I get now. I cannot afford to pay for childcare for more than 3 days and I do not think it is fair on my child to be tired for my choices. Plus when she goes to High school next year we will even loose the afterschool clubs options. I offered to work 3 full days and job share but that option was refused as well. I am so gutted that I will have to turn down this offer as I worked so hard for the interview and the job is so good...related to my field and good prospect of progress a well.
