Was I too honest in job interview?

I had an internal job interview on Friday. I shared a story about a time when I made a quite a bad mistake at work and I took proactive steps to fix it. I’ve been worrying ever since that I should have kept quiet as the interview was with a senior manager who wasn’t aware of this mistake and now they are 😔 Any advice?

If he didnt react at all - he either has a great poker face or he already knew or it wasnt serious enough to have remotely been a concern to him.

Ask for feedback if you do not get it but if it is because of a mistake you made, which you did inform your line manager and you also fixed - then that would be strange.

I know try to forget about it doesn’t work in relation to interviews but I think it says more about the interviewer if this is the only reason they don’t give you the job x

Honestly, I don’t think it matters. From my experience with internal jobs:
a) They often already have someone lined up for the role, and it doesn’t matter how good you are — you won’t be chosen.
b) If they want you, they want you. If you’ve managed to fix something without needing your manager, it shows you can handle the job.

The decision is usually made way before the interview. I don’t think your answer will change anything.
