I am looking for a remote position working for the NHS.

can anyone share if they are working from home in a nhs role,
Ive looked on nhs jobs, I’ve seen some hybrid working, just wondering what types of jobs people are doing.

My skills are in mental health nursing and general administration.

A friend of mine works for 111 from home. Are you a qualified mental health nurse?

redredredredlorry · 24/04/2026 12:12

I work from home in commissioning. Our team of 15 has at least 4 former nurses, 2 of which were mental health nurses.

They commission mental health services, LTC screening programmes, primary care services, dementia services etc.

All under generic titles on nhs jobs such as project manager or service redesign, stuff like that.

Health Research Authority - organisation pretty much all home based now. Admin roles mainly.

Recruitment jobs in wales are all home based

I’m a mental health nurse and am currently on a fixed term project and probably work from home at least 50% of the time. CHC nurses also have a lot of home working (with assessments out in the community). Our local CHC team had a big shortage of RMNs (and RNLDs)

Research support/info management in public health

MsMessy2626 · 25/04/2026 10:14

@365RubyRed Yes, I’m qualified, however no longer practicing and my Pin has lapsed. I’ve been a sahm the last few years.

Looking for an admin role now.

@MsMessy2626 why do you want to work solely from home?

MsMessy2626 · 25/04/2026 15:33

@TheyGrewUp Yes, for the time being.

60 to 80 % of my job is wfh, but the time that isn't wfh does involve a commute - anywhere between 20 mins to 90 mins, I work in safeguarding.

Yeahyeahyeahnooooo · 25/04/2026 20:43

It would completely depend on the team culture and manager. I know plenty who work from home, and some who get one WFH day a week. You'd have to apply for a tonne of jobs and try to get lucky. PS, the interviewers are not always honest about WFH either!

deelishiS0 · 25/04/2026 20:46

Im a clinical coder team leader fully remote. Love it. Need the peace and quiet to concentrate so it really works well

MsMessy2626 · 03/05/2026 00:31

So I’m thinking as I don’t seem to be getting far with a nhs job wfh, what would my other options be. I’m thinking local council and maybe the charity sector? Any other suggestions please.

Thanks

I’m civil servant for local Police force, WFH except for 2 days per month

Letsformanallegiance · 03/05/2026 02:11

Lots of housing associations have WFH customer service jobs. That could work out for you.

Herewegoagainmama · 03/05/2026 02:19

have you thought about being a PWP with your mental health background? Or admin/management for talking therapies?
I’m a PWP and there are remote only contracts available, or at least hybrid (1-2 days a week working in base, seeing patients F2F or attending meetings. Rest from home. That’s for full time)

MsMessy2626 · 05/05/2026 14:02

Thank you for the above suggestions. I will look into Housing Associations and Police Force. I remember a while ago seeing a typist position which was remote.

@Herewegoagainmama As my Pin has lapsed I don’t think I am able to work in this role.
