Hi I’m hoping for some help please. I’m trying to find some data entry work from home jobs but I’ve been searching all evening and I just keep ending up being directed to paid surveys which Is not what I want at all

can anyone please help? I just want a legit job where I can do some data entry in my free time when kids are at school and some extra cash

Is data entry even a thing now?

GarlicFind · 10/04/2026 22:17

Any of these interest you?

I thought data entry jobs didn’t exist anymore….

SchoolDilemma17 · 10/04/2026 22:39

Aren’t these jobs done by AI now or outsourced to cheaper countries

moonstarsuns · 10/04/2026 23:04

Oh so I guess I’m stuck with paid surveys then? Are they worth my time?

I wfh in a call centre and do mostly data entry, it's the second call centre job I've had and the first one ended up being only data entry so might be worth checking out call centres, you might find what you're looking for there

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 11/04/2026 05:32

You might be better looking at Virtual PA roles

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 11/04/2026 06:36

Data entry jobs are few and far between unfortunately

Morepositivemum · 11/04/2026 07:09

I know some people who work in call centre jobs wfh but they clock every single call so you’re working non stop and it’s half right to give no flexibility. I think it’s very hard to find a flexible wfh position that fits in around the kids now

ToffeeCrabApple · 11/04/2026 08:16

Jobs like that, why would they pay someone uk wages to do it remotely when they could get someone in a cheap country to do it or just automate it.

I know someone who does data entry only as a job. But it's patients questionnaires for clinical trials and she has to do the job at hospital as these are confidential patients data. She can't take them home.

This was one of my first jobs! Sadly lost it because the 2008 postponed a lot of trials and my position was only mat leave cover contract.

The reality is a lot of stuff that was done as data entry is now directly added to systems by the user or customer. Clinical trial roles still exist because they still log everything on paper. It might even be a legal requirement.

You might be able to find some freelance stuff writing up old notes- I had a friend who would post on local area boards offering to digitise things like grandma's hand written recipe books. It was a lot of hustling for not much work though.

How about remote admin jobs?

Not really. Unless you fall into a specialised niche.

Lightuptheroom · 11/04/2026 10:00

Have a look at your local authority job pages, they're often 'hybrid' in nature with some still being fully working from home. They also have roles that are term time only.

HopeFor2026 · 11/04/2026 11:43

Try NHS jobs accounts Payable - I'm fully wfh data entry in an NHS clerical role.
Data entry - accounts Payable officer
Depends on where you are located but you only really need excel/computer experience and customer service skills at band 2 or 3 level, obviously there is a lot to learn on the job.

FTMJul26 · 11/04/2026 11:55

Was coming to say what the above has already said. Try looking for accounts payable roles

titchy · 11/04/2026 12:15

Why wfh? You’d have far more luck with a part time office or care home or factory based job.

Hasn't ai taken that over by now? I can't imagine it being a thing. I haven't done data entry since 1999.

Meant to add, remote admin IS definitely a huge thing. How much experience do you have? Quite a lot is required these days for the sort of roles out there which let you work at home.

Clearinguptheclutter · 11/04/2026 13:47

I did it as one of my first jobs was soul destroying but it was 25 years ago!

in my field as lot of data is inputted to platforms but the vast majority is done automatically thanks to software and/or AI. There will be few if any data entry roles these days

BillieWiper · 11/04/2026 13:53

You could do social or market research conducting surveys on others? Lots of places do that as WFH. They usually send you the kit, you just need internet and computer. There's one my mate works for that seems ok. They are flexible shifts so daytime, eves and weekends and you pick. You have to phone people asking them questions though so you need to like talking to people.

parietal · 11/04/2026 13:59

Prolific has lots of survey jobs and psychology experiments.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/04/2026 17:48

I know someone who works in admin for the local council and wfh fully. That’s full time though. A lot of central gov admin jobs are hybrid. Lot of competition out there too. Everyone wants wfh or hybrid.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/04/2026 17:50

Why don’t you see if you can work as a TA at a school or school secretary? Latter more hours but former school hours I think. You can always put kids in after school care. Or admin in local companies like estate agents, solicitors, accountants literally the ones you can walk to in eg 10 mins. They prob want full time but may do part time. That’s what some mums in my area do.
