Supervisor constantly monitoring my work and knocking my confidence

I am after some advice on a situation at work. I have been in my current role for 10 years and i am confident in my job. I plan my workload and always manage to complete the tasks given to me. But recently my supervisor has been constantly watching me asking me how long it will take to complete tasks when I have just started doing them and then saying once you have finished it can you do XYZ. He doesn't do this with other staff in fact he doesn't monitor them at all. It's starting to knock my confidence and upset me. I like my job but the past few weeks have been tough.

Ask him Why do you need to know? Then he has to justify asking you

Do you have a good idea of how the quality of your work / output compares with your co-workers? Do you volunteer for equal amounts of discretionary work? Is your attendance and timekeeping good? Is there anything else going on in the firm such as a reorganisation or planned reductions in staffing? If you aren’t in a union, consider joining one.

@LadyLapsang my work is to a high standard. I always volunteer to do tasks which is more than other staff do. My attendance and time keeping are good and no staff cuts in fact we are recruiting

That sounds odd and unsettling. Are you paid a lot more than the new staff just because of your length of service? Or have better terms and conditions? I would expect someone with a decade in the same role to be performing significantly above newer staff, although in reality that is not always true. Maybe he thinks you are coasting a bit.

You are being micro managed which is never a good sign. Any chance that you are nearing an appraisal where you can raise this?
