Job is a nightmare, what to do?

Hi all. I've been in a job for 3 years and the workload has just gone up and up. No salary or grade increase despite increased workload/responsibility and pension also now being reduced and other benefits have been removed. Line manager is not helpful. I've been applying for other jobs but can't even get an interview. Stomach issues have flared up due to stress and I'm now often vomiting on days I have to go in to the office. I can just about survive without salary unless my partner loses his job. How is the best way to extricate myself without ruining reference/looking bad on my CV? Thanks

Get yourself signed off sick to give your stomach time to heal and give yourself a break from some of the anxiety and use that time to look for another job. Working on your CV and writing well written applications takes time and effort; you want to give yourself the best shot.

It won’t look bad on your record to move on from a job after three years. And you shouldn’t stay in a job that’s not treating you well. In public say you’re ready for a new challenge. In the exit interview say what you’ve said here.

Thanks PineappleMelon. I'm trying to avoid going off sick but it's getting pretty unbearable. I do also have lots of short contracts and gaps on my CV so I am reluctant to leave without going straight to another job but I can't carry on as things are. Keep hoping the job market will ease but doesn't look like that's happening any time soon!
