Working part-time in education - what happens with Bank Holidays?

I am hoping to cut my days from 5 to 3 from September (I am support staff). What happens if one of my NWD is Monday and bank holidays fall on that day - am I given time in lieu or how does it work please?
Also, to calculate what my (reduced) pay will be, should I just multiply my current amount by .6?

You will get the pro rata'd bank holidays and have to book annual leave for each one which falls on your working day. Eg. If you work 0.5, you get 4 days added to your annual leave.

In schools, it’s always been the luck of the draw if you get the bank holiday off… if it’s your working day you get it off but otherwise you just work as normal

There is only one bank holiday in term time - the early May one. Given that there may be an inset day you choose to attend on a non working day, it usually balances the one day out.

My friend is a teaching assistant and works on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The only day it affects her and she gets a day off is the first bank holiday in May as all the other bank holidays all fall within the school holidays.

Teachers don't get Annual Leave, as such, if the school is closed, teachers don't go in, annual f/t salary is based on being in school 39 weeks of the year ( 1265 hrs).
If you work p/t you are entitled to pro rata BH, so should negotiate time off in lieu with H/T.

Thanks all - very helpful.

You are employed for 39 weeks plus an annual leave allowance which will reflect your 3 days. Termtime bh would be taken as normal, or not in your case, as only MayDay bh is during term time and is on a Monday.
