Be careful of those stuffing envelope etc companies, they can rip you off.

There is a big market in doing other peoples ironing and clothes repairs, you could try putting a card in the post office/newsagents window and see how things go. Remember never to pay money up front for businesses that give you things to do from home.

most of it is a scam....

mollysawally · 15/06/2008 18:21

Thanks for the advice, there has to be some that aren't a scam surely?

I won't pay any money upfront.

Since having dd, most of our evenings are spent indoors so I thought I might as well do some productive now dd is sleeping through the night.

Ironing. You get to choose how much you do and when you do it, aswell as watch tv at the same time. You could do a small basket in an hour, charge £10. £10 an hour, not bad.

I'm crap at ironing, how do you become good at it? I've got no one to show me how to iron shirt properly for example

Do the sleves first, make sure they are straight when you iron by flattening them down with your hand, then the collar, then the sides. Practice with the things you iron at home.

What are you good at? Making cakes? Jewellery? childminding? drawing? writing?

There are several websites where you get paid for filling in questionairs but it takes ages to get a decient amount of points to change into cash.

If I were to do ironing, would it be mainly shirts I would be asked to do?

Not very creative I'm afraid and I'm really looking for something I can do in the evenings.

My neighbour sends her out. Some are her kids school shirts, some trousers, dresses, T-shirts. Quite a mix. There are some agencies (sitters) that are looking for people to babysit children at any time (evenings) if you had someone to look after your little ones. They pay very well. It does involve travelling though.

Thanks avenanap, I like the idea of ironing and will look into it,
