What are other primary teachers workloads like at the moment? I work full time in year 5. Been in same school for 20 years. I get to my desk at 7am as it means I can get to the photocopier before anyone else. I prep for the day and catch up on actioning emails. Children in at 8.45 am I am on morning duty everyday. Lunch/toilet break is usually 15 mins and then work until children come back after lunch at 1 . I work after school until 4.30. I then leave for the day and never work evenings or weekend. When I leave I am quite good at switching off. I don't work in the holidays but will spend 2 days in Summer prepping classroom . I am UPS 3 and run two subjects. I am 5 years off official retirement age. Sometimes I wonder if other schools demand more or less? How does this compare to other full time teachers ?

I think almost all will work eves and quite a bit of Sunday at least in term time.

I'm secondary but in an all through school. Most come in between 7 and 8 and leave between 4.30 and 6. Most work in an evening 2-3 times a week at least, and on a Sunday.

Can't see that's enough time for curriculum planning, lesson planning, making resources, marking, inputting data, running clubs or making and reviewing assessments myself.

I’m Secondary and a pastoral lead on UPS3. Arrive 7.15am, do several break duties, eat lunch standing up if on duty or at my desk while working if I’m not. I tend to leave at around 4.30- 5.40. I check emails and reply during the week at home, and do a couple of hours marking on a Sunday.

Also primary. I’m in by 7.30am. I eat my lunch while working and probably leave at around 6pm. I don’t take too much home these days, unless it’s report writing season, although I tend to do a few hours on a Sunday afternoon to get ahead for the week.

Primary. In school by 7.30, children in at 8.35. No break time, get 15 min to eat lunch, then marking books/getting resources ready for afternoon. In school until 5.30/6. Sometimes bring books home to mark. Generally, 4-6 hours at weekend minimum, planning (try to work two weeks ahead in case of unforeseen issues, data drops, etc). Work through several days of holidays.

I’m similar time wise, but arrive just after 8 and leave around 5.30-5.45.
I work through my lunch. I do very little during evenings & weekends as I manage to get most things done after school.
I’m lucky though as I have very little marking and have taught in the same year group for several years so the planning, resources etc are well established.
The biggest drain on my time is SEND/safeguarding meetings and paperwork which I seem to have more & more of.

I do find the hour and 45 mins before school is enough for assessments and planning. I also get an afternoon off for ppa every week.
Marking is done instantly in class.I run a club for 1 term in Summer. Data entry is my lunchtime job.

I think pen marking in live lessons is a real winner- if that’s what you do. Pupils are much more likely to act on that whilst doing the work than to read a paragraph of feedback later on.
