i recently quit my crappy job working for a large pub chain (no names mentioned but it has no music in their pubs)and they are refusing to give back my bond money now i have moved from the on site accomadation. the story is complicated because they say i owe them rent money from when i was maternity leave and i greatly disputed this as i was told when i went on maternity that not to worry by the then am that it would come out of then h wages. it didnt and they decided not to inform me until six months after the fact, they also put the rent up twice in this period and then had to drop it right down due to a law that states that if you take money from employeees wages it cant drop them to below minimum wage( butlins staff tried and won a case apparently). i worked for them for 6 years and was basically bullied out of my job because and i quote" i have never known a manager that just works 16 hours a week" what if anything can i do?

I am assuming you are who I think you are finally, no need to confirm or deny

Hmm, tricky.

Without seeing more details about the terms and conditions you were working/living under, with regards to the bond and everything else, I can't say whether they have the right to keep it or not.

However, assuming you are right and they don't have the right to keep this money, have a look at this, some useful info about non-payment of money owed. You can make a complaint to the Employment Tribunal but you need to do this within 3 months.

If you are who I think you are there are some other things you might want to complain about I think, if you want to consider a claim for this money.

I don't know how much it is, whether it's worth your while or whether it's something you want to/can focus on, but it might be worth going to the CAB and talking through it all with someone who can see your contract and other paperwork and hear all the details?
