LinkedIn & career breaks

I finished work about 6 months ago and am currently on a career break which I anticipate lasting another year or so, possibly a good while longer. I’m not doing anything particular with my time - running around after the DC, seeing a lot more of my friends & family and actually reading rather than just having a teetering tower of unread books by my bed! Whilst I am having a brilliant time, I don’t want to say goodbye to my career as I found it interesting but my last role was a bit too all consuming for my current stage of life. My area is also well paid so, if things were to go pear shaped with DH or he were to leave me, it would be useful to go back to it.
What do u do about LinkedIn. I’ve only ever used it in a very basic fashion - my career history is on there and I follow various people who are high profile or interesting in the sector as well as a few former colleagues - but I have never posted on it or anything. I haven’t updated it since I left but, now that my previous employer has finally got around to recruiting a replacement, I feel as though I should. But what do I say for now? I can’t say “other projects” as I’m not sure tracking down missing PE kit counts! I’m not currently open to other opportunities (well, I could spare a few hours in the middle of the day in the middle of the week but that’s not much use to anyone!). I’m worried that, if I let it slide or leave it too long, it will look as though I was pushed.
Any suggestions?

You are massively overthinking this. You can just put career break without scaring the horses.

Surely you just put the end date of your last company and only update linkedin if/when you start looking for a job? How many people are you expecting to be reviewing it in detail and thinking 'hmm, why hasn't she updated this???'
When you apply for a job, just put career break on your CV/linkedin.

I had long breaks. 12mths abroad where family live and helping when my mum had a hip replacement. Another time I was there 8mths just holidaying. All they want to know is what the break was for. If you say 'I was in prison' then it might be an issue.

I did wonder if I was! I started writing something and then got myself tied into knots.
