Absence review meeting

I have been off work for 6 weeks and it has triggered an absence review meeting with my manager. I have never had one before so I don't know what to expect. How much about my health should I share?

I find it hard to talk about because I worry I will get upset and I don't want to cry in front of my manager. I haven't been referred yet i think that will be the next step.

You won't be told off, it's just about finding a way to get you back into work and if there's anything that they can do.
It won't be punitive. If you're feeling anxious, you could ask someone else to be in the meeting with you. It's usually a union rep, but have you got a supportive co-worker?
