Is it worth applying for a band 4 NHS role when I didn't get shortlisted for a band 3 role?

Is it worth applying for a band 4 role in the NHS when I wasn't shortlisted for a band 3 role in the same hospital and department? My experience is in a band 4 admin role, but my contract ended recently. I've been applying for band 3 and 4 posts, but one of the band 3 roles didn't shortlist me. Should I still consider applying for the band 4 position (same dept and hospital), or does my previous rejection suggest I wouldn't be considered for a higher role within the same organisation? Any insights or advice on how to approach this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Do you have the essential requirement on the person spec? Sometimes if too many people apply there people shortlist are chosen at random. If you have the essential go for it as it’s a numbers game

Yes, because by not even applying, you're just saying no to yourself!

Focus on what the job is asking for, revise your application to suit and 100% yes apply! Fingers crossed for you.

Just apply.

Contact the named contact for a chat about the role, might even be worth requesting feedback from not being shortlisted for the band 3?

Apply

Yes definitely if you have the essential criteria.

If you meet the essential criteria and evidence every bit they ask for, you should get an interview unless they are getting hundreds of applications

I wouldn’t have recruited a person with band 4 experience to a band 3 post because it’s likely we’d be doing it all over again when they applied for a band 4 post when it came up again

I'm finding the job application too complicated. I've applied for 22 NHS roles, but this application form takes it to new levels. It's asking how I can demonstrate excellent analytical skills and to demonstrate my complete understanding of RTT waiting times guidance. The questions seem too 'managerial' just for a band 4. I was never asked this on previous application forms.

I would assume it means that you will be on the sharp end of ensuring clinicians meet the target times. What are the requirements? Difference between first contact and treatment, how to you monitor RTT time if initial contact doesn't involve starting treatment. What IT skills do you have to manage the lists and what soft skills do you have to support your clinicians to succeed?
