Would I look like a job hopper?

So my career in a nutshell:

  • I stayed at my first company for 5 years. Started with a 6-months temporary contract as a first graduate job, then I went to work in another department for 4,5 years, until it closed down.
  • Then I worked for the next company for 5 years, again I had a 5-months temporary contract, then 4+ years in this company
  • Then I had another job for 2 years 9 months.
  • At the end my contract was not renewed, I decided to do change career (not something drastic like become a carpenter after having worked as a teacher all my life, more like switching from intellectual property law to DPO) I did a full time training for a few months, then immediately found a job in my new career. As I was unemployed and needed a foot in the new career, I took the first junior job that I could find. It was great but really far away from my home (1h15 minutes each way in a awful train and only 1 day WFH per week). I was utterly exhausted and was concerned I had no time/energy for my toddler. It was also a very junior position and I wanted to move up for I stayed for 9 months until I could find a job that was both a step-up career-wise and much closer to home so I could have a better work/life balance.
  • So I've been at my current job for a year. It's ok, but I still find it a bit boring and it's still not the pay and seniority that I would like. It's also not very stable. It's the same company as I was previously but different department
I've seen an ad for a job that l'm interested in, that looks close enough to my home that I could have good work/balance and the job is more stable, and possibly the level of seniority and pay I aspire. There are lots of things to consider whether or not to move, but one of them is how it would look on my cv to have two relatively short positions (9 months and 1 year), even though in the past I stayed for several years in each job.

Honest opinions?

I think the longer stints balance it out - plus you were with the same company so I wouldn't consider that a short time frame.

Go for the new role!

I think you can frame it as a career change meaning you started again at the bottom, but your previous experience/tranferable skills, along with your new qualifications enabled you to move up quickly.

Thank you for those replies. I think I will send an application, but I will make sure to check if that job would be a good fit so that I'm not in the position of looking for a new job in few months.
