Change to working hours meeting

Good morning,
I am a teacher returning to work after my maternity leave. I have a meeting with HR and my line manager today about changing my working hours to part time. I am not sure what to expect. Any helpful thoughts/info from anyone who has been through the process?
TIA

Would be helpful to know previous hours and what you are requesting

I'm not sure how it works in teaching - do you have to submit a flexible working request? If so, what does your policy say about the process?

Sorry, should have included this in my original post! Going from five days a week to four hopefully!

Have you submitted a flexible working request?

I think the more comprehensive you can be the better. And focus on the impact on your employer, team & children than on you. For example, what will happen with staff meetings if they’re not on your working day, parents evenings, residential school trips (if they’re something your age group does), responsibilities outside the classroom (eg if you are the curriculum lead for your subject) as well as the more obvious things like handovers and that sort of stuff. Focus on the impact on the business rather than on you. Then you can come onto the practicalities - for example, if you want to work three days a week, do you mind which three days or does one of them have to be a Monday as that is when a family member is able to look after your child?

Have you set up the meeting? You are legally entitled to your old job or 0.5 of your hours.

if you are looking for anything other than this they can say no.

go in with specifics of what you want and the impact it will have on your role.
