HR Assistant interview - good option?

I had a Teams interview today for a HR assistant and a second interview booked for next week. This is an entry level role and I will be taking a pay drop to go for it.
I've worked in LA administration for years and I am looking for something new, challenging and that I could climb the ladder in.
I hear about no end of nurses, teachers and social workers having burn out and wanting to leave their industry but nothing bad ever seems to be said about HR. Is this a good route to go down? Any thoughts would be appreciated 🙂

Yes - I would say so.

See if the employer will fund your CIPD level 3 via the apprenticeship levy.

HR can be extremely stressful and there are lots of hr pros leaving the industry, as they don't feel supported. The old question of who is there for HR when HR is there for everyone else?

You've got to be comfortable with knowing things about people and not having anyone to share with. Whilst still treating everyone equitably.

I've been in HR for 12 years and it's hard work. It can be really rewarding in the good companies, when you get the opportunity to change things for the better and when you have a HR team but if you are stand alone it's lonely as hell.

Not trying to put you off, just no rose tinted glasses, I love it but some days I think about retraining, and from speaking with others in the industry it's a wide spread issue.
There are good and bad points to every career, and it mostly depends on the team you have as to whether you sink or float.

Thank you, that's a really detailed answer.

In my roles I have had at LA I've always worked with confidential information, and often very sensitive, so I'm able to keep impartial, professional and keep things to myself.

What exactly is stressful about it? Is it the pressures and demands from employees or from the leaders above?

I will ask about CIPD (also hoping for another invite to interview at a college). Is this something I can fund and do myself?
