Do I put this job on my CV?

They waited for me to finish retention at my other job, then have got rid of me 8 weeks later as “over staffed”
not sure if to include it on my CV or not?

So how long did you work there? Is it relevant experience to the jobs you're currently seeking?

It clearly wasn't like you were fired for being rubbish. Would they give a decent reference?

You could say you left because you were looking to get more into (whatever sector the employer you're interviewing for is in). Then just say something positive about their industry.

If most of the other jobs you had before that lasted much longer I wouldn't say it would look bad. A several months unexplained gap would look infinitely worse.

I think it’s fine to put on, and put your reason for leaving as redundancy and they took a last in first out approach. If that’s what they did? Will they provide a reference confirming that you were let go due to overstaffing?

I would include it. AI is used nowadays to sift out cvs that don't meet requirements. One of those requirements is usually a full employment history with any gaps explained.

Edited

So I was at the job before for 7 years, made redundant in June but kept on retention until end of august
started this job sept so no gap, and then let go this week so 8 weeks total

it’s virtually the same as the job I did for 7 years so doesn’t really add anything

I’ve got a letter confirming that I was let go due to the department being over resourced (why the fuck they didn’t do that before I started…)

Makes sense. I’ve worked continuously from part time jobs at 13
had to apply for UC which I’ve never done which just covers my mortgage but I can’t afford my council tax or gas/electric/water/food

If you can just kind of forge the gap by blending it into the previous job? I don't honestly think it will make you look awful for having it on there but equally you don't seem to think it would help you get a new one.
