CAPITA PIP assessor job- physio

Im wondering if anyone has this role and can give any information?

I am torn. Ive read all the bad reviews- and a few okay ones. So, Im not looking for how terrible the job is.

But I am in a situation where I work bank shifts (physio), and I also run my own clinic. I am a single mum of a 7 year old- I'm finding the lack of security with work (no pension, no paid leave, no sick leave etc) overwhelming right now.

My questions are more around the logistics of the job itself.

On the WFH training on teams (5weeks) am I able to (as below) take 5-10minutes out of the call to do school pick up? this one isn't a biggy.

I,e- I know clinic days can change- my nearest clinic is 30minutes away which is fine, but due to school drop off and pick up my hours would need to be say 9-4 ( and I know they aren't the standard hours they give you- is there an option on the clinic days that I can make the extra hour up at home in the evenings?

Also, working from home- would I be able to drop my daughter and pick her up during the working day? (the school is 2minutes walk from the house if that).

I wouldn't want to have to put her in afterschool club every day If I can go and collect her and then just do some extra work afterward.

And workload wise, I have read that the training is difficult, but once you get 6-12months in it is more manageable as you find your feet etc.

Hopefully you guys can give me some clarity.

Thankyou!

I'm not an assessor but have claimed pip.
I wouldn't want you assessing me while responsible for a child in the home I dont think that's very professional and may be writing your contract (the NHS had this in mine).
My other thought is with all the changes to pip will Capita still have the contract, will you be able to have the same terms and conditions if a new provider takes over/will you have a job?
I used to work for continuing health care doing assessments and many of the nurses came from pip assessors jobs because of the lack of flexibility, the expectations on how many assessments (not taking into account complexity) and not being understanding with emergency child care (this was about 10 years ago so hopefully they've improved).
The assessors I've had range from ok to extremely poor, many making odd statements in the report that look like copy and pastes/getting mixed up with other clients. I expect this is due to the high work load/expected turn over.
I'd do my research before applying if I was you.

Thankyou for your input.

I meant the question of being able to pick my child up as if i could make up hours or arrange my schedule so my day was front loaded and i done training/CPD in the afternoons when working from home- as I gather this is scheduled into your rota. I probably should have expanded. Not in assessment time- I wouldn’t ever do that and agree it’s unprofessional and disrespectful at least.

I believe the contracts have been secured until 2029, but with benefit changes that may all change again.

it’s difficult to gauge the logistics of a job or how flexible the hours are from a job advert- and most agencies just tell you what you want to hear!

I’ve done this job. It’s full on and a lot of extra hours reading evidence before you see people.
