Talking about being on WLDs at work, yes or no?

Hi all,
I’ve been on Wegovy for a few months under the guidance of my GP and Shemed. It’s going really well, I feel better, my bloods are improved, and yes, I’ve lost a noticeable amount of weight.
Colleagues have started commenting on it (“You’ve lost loads, what’s your secret?” etc.) and it’s getting awkward. I’ve just been saying something vague like “trying to eat a bit healthier,” but I can tell people are curious.
Part of me thinks I should just be open and say I’m on a GLP-1, to stop the questions. I mean it is pretty common nowadays. But I also know how gossipy workplaces can be, and I don’t fancy being the topic of lunchroom chat or hearing “oh she’s on that jab” whispered behind my back.
Has anyone else mentioned this kind of thing at work? Did it go okay or turn into a drama?
Would you keep quiet or be upfront about it?

I've told people, no drama more just questions. Why would any of your work people cause drama because of meds you are on?

Zempy · 04/11/2025 07:07

I tell everyone! Why would it be drama?

If you want to say something to stop the questions but don’t want to tell them you are having the injections because you suspect some might be critical, and some people are critical, just say your GP has put you on a weight loss plan.

That should satisfy all but the very nosey and if they ask more questions, that would be the time to ask them why they need to know that

You don’t have to divulge any personal medical information to anyone you work with OP. It’s none of their business.

I can guarantee they already know fine how you have lost the weight!

I’ve been telling people who ask, mainly because after 30 years of battling my weight and being morbidly obese I didn’t want to give the impression that ‘just’ trying hard and sticking to the diet was doing it this time. Obviously I am sticking to a diet and I am working hard and I am doing my exercise and all that other good stuff but the magic ingredient definitely is Mounjaro, it’s allowing all that stuff to work this time and me to be successful.

Ive had no drama, no negative responses, everyone has been genuinely interested and happy for me.

I've told everyone who's asked. There hasn't been any drama or problems. Just curiosity from people considering it themselves. Three of my friends have gone on them since.

I in 20 adults are on it now.
