When to update new role on LinkedIn

I know lots of you will say no one cares but after a crappy ending at my old role I start my new role on Monday.

I posted that I was leaving my current role and taking a few weeks out before sharing my next move.

Should I post now that I’m excited to start next week blah blah blah or wait until the first morning?

I’ve signed the contract etc, but not sure why something is telling me to hold off until I’ve actually started, but also don’t want them to think I’m not excited.

I do it at some point in my first week

SlowRider · 03/11/2025 13:22

After your probation period?

After your probation period?

That’s 6 months so wouldn’t really want to wait that long

End of first week and then you do the whole ‘just had an amazing first week at blah blah corporation sending rockets to the moon - can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store’.
But your company will not be watching and waiting to see when you post; no-one is that invested 😅

JustReacher · 03/11/2025 16:40

Agree, first week.

TeachesOfPeaches · 03/11/2025 16:57

Don’t do it straight away in case you hate it and leave quickly

MaDugsAFud · 03/11/2025 16:59

Probation

End of week 1 and when you do beware of an influx of requests from ‘new colleagues’ especially ones you haven’t met from other countries - this is a phishing scam where you accept and they then follow up with an urgent business issue.
As soon as you update your role and company on there you’ll also receive an avalanche of phishing/senior manager fraud emails - hopefully your IT dept have good protection in place but be vigilant even if the CEO does send you an email out of the blue demanding money/data transfer right away…

Another vote for end of the first week “what a week, everyone is amazing and my boss pisses chilled champagne” fluff

BuildbyNumbere · 03/11/2025 18:46

I would wait until at least the end of your first day.

SparklyCardigan · 03/11/2025 18:50

Do people really do this? It seems a bit ass-kissy. I am a LinkedIn refuser, somehow I still manage to get jobs and stay employed...

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 03/11/2025 18:58

Do it in your first week.
I understand your pain i am about to do the same.

I HATE linkedin so much.
You cant just do a title update now you need some shitty inspo pic and something thought piece titled "how my new hair colour made me rethink my approach B2B CRM"
🥴🤮

FootyMcFooty · 03/11/2025 19:29

Thanks everyone! End of first day / week it is.
