Can I claim universal credit if I didn't get my own job permanently?

I've been temping in my job (zero contract) for 11 years. I was so happy working this way until a new manager started saying I have to go permanent or I will receive 4 weeks notice if I decide to go. I decided to go permanent and my manager said to carry on with the way I'm working and she'll transfer me over to permanent, do a mini interview and that's that! I didn't need to look for another job as basically the job was mine. However, things took a turn for the worst and I didn't end up with a mini interview instead it was a full blown formal one and after I was told I didn't get my job as 'I didn't sell myself enough'! Now I'm in the middle of working my notice and I finish in two weeks time. Anyway, I'm giving just background here.
Am I entitled to universal credit? I'm applying for jobs like mad!
TIA.

Short answer - yes. Good luck

Yes, you would be eligible for UC as your employment was terminated.
Can I extend my sympathy as I've always found it really hard to sell myself at internal interviews.

Did you resign or they ended your contract? After 11 years you should be classed as permanent so did you get advice from anyone other than your manager? Call ACAS to find out your rights

They ended my contract.

Definitely worth a phone call to acas

Call ACAS as soon as you can. This is dodgy. The law looks at the reality of the working arrangement, not just what's written on paper.

This doesn’t make sense at all. If you are truly casual/ temping where’s the notice period from?
Ive been casual for 4 years and I retain my agreement of 2 hours notice at my end of I’m not turning up, they only book me when they need me.
If you have actual shifts and regular hours and a notice period then it’s a redundancy situation

Depends on circumstances for UC. Do a calculator to see if you are entitled.

Also sorry to hear your situation, after 11 years it must be such a shock :(

Yes, I contacted ACAS - my employer's in the right. Moreover, the worst of all, the manager deceived me because she said she'd swap me from temp to perm and now I didn't get the job. 😣 If I'd known I wasn't going to get it, I'd have looked for another job, but now I have rush trying to get another job just before Christmas too 😞
