I work in corporate environment for over 20 years and first time faced the layoff. I understand the business decision so I'm not hung onto emotional side. However, Im finding it really difficult to find another job. I have been getting interviews but it seems like employers have many candidates at the moment on the market. It's really challenging to get the interviews and if yiu get an interview it's a long process to hear back. I'm been looking since Aug. It's getting quite frustrating. I have never been out of work. I'm at mid-management level. Is anyone facing or has faced similar situations. If yes, how long it too them to get their next role. We are in Q4 and towards end of a year so that's worrying me too thst soon the job postings will slow down.

I was laid off in March (well was on garden leave since end Feb) but applied for everything that was going and was lucky enough to be offered a job by mid April. Trick is to think what you could do and not what you last did. I would also try and get anything so you’re not looking idle. If I hadn’t got the job I’d got I would’ve worked signed up with a temp agency or supermarket. Also see if your line of work needs contractors. Even if you get a 6 month contract it gets you contacts. My colleague took 6 months to get a job. Keep a good routine up ie exercise, spend a couple of hours looking, maybe work in charity shop for a while. If you get something which isn’t quite right at least it gets some money in to plan the next move which is the stage I’m at. Good luck!
