Hi im just looking for a bit of advice. Im currently on maternity leave from my work and have been off since February. On the 22nd September I recieved an email from head office about how they are going to be offering voluntary redundancies as they have too many people in certain stores in certain hours/days overstaffed/ understaffed. In this email it goes on to say that there has been many discussions in stores with staff about flexibility I think some people may have changed hours to cater the store im unsure with not being there, which is my point I was completely out of the loop with all this. After this email I contacted my HR to ask what was going on as I was completely blindsided by this and was given the response of the best person to speak to would be my store manager and she would get her to contact me. The next day I hadnt heard to I called my store and spoke to another manager who said the same she would ask my store manager to contact me before she finished at 4.30 but I didnt recieve the call. She called me the day after and just said that there wasnt much to tell me there was going to be voluntary redundancies they had been given a chart showing the days and hours the store was overstaffed and that those people would be eligible to apply I asked her to keep me up to day and if she could get me the chart so I could see for myself. Then there was a company email about voting for our region reps on the 26th - 29th September which i voted for a colleague in my store and that whoever won the rep role would have a collective consultation meeting on the 1st October. I hadnt heard anything from my work so I emailed HR again on the 2nd October asking for any updated she informed me that the colleague from our store won the rep role and basically told me ive just to contact her from with any questions now. I used the email she gave me for the rep and contacted saying I was wanting to apply for the voluntary redundancy and I had some questions as the end of work date is the 28th November but im due to be paid maternity until 26th December so what would happen so I still get my maternity money if I get the redundancy. I was given an automated response that she would get back to me by the 8th October, and that I should check the FAQ document as it may answer any questions. I hadn't been sent any FAQ document or in fact the original hours over under document which I emailed again asking for. At this point it was 3rd October and the opening date for applications for redundancy was the 10th October. My rep emailed me the hours over and under document on the 6th so I could finally see if I was eligible which I had some hours over so I could but I still havent recieved the FAQ document. The rep being a colleague actually sent me her number so I could contact her which was very fortunate that I was in a position to personally know her so I could actually speak to someone as I feel completely ignored by my workplace. On the 9th my rep called me up to speak to me on what she was told about my maternity pay and she said that they said that because my pay I lieu period would take me past my maternity paid period that it would be my materbity pay but after speaking to both mt union and ACAS i was informed that that the employer is liable to pay 39 weeks mater ity even if there is redundancy. She obviously was just telling me what she was told in the collective meeting and she said if I get accepted I get a 1 on 1 meeting that I should bring it up. I have contacted my union in regards to all this amd they did agree that i should have been given all the information that everyone else has been given when i havent I feel I have been totally forgotten about being on maternity and honestly if I hadnt been chasing my work phoning and emailing I dont think anyone would have even contacted me. I applied for the redundancy when the applications opened on the 10th october. Since then after speaking to my union and ACAS i was adviced to put in a formal grievance to my HR about how I have been treated so I did to which my store manager called me today and basically told me the had done no wrong and would not be upholding any of the points in my letter. She told me I could have rhe meeting but basically said to me nothing would happen.she told me that when the flexibility talks happen she was told not to contact anyone on leave and said she contacted me as soon as she could even though it took 2 days from the email that was sent out, she says she was given 10 days to speak to staff even though votes for colleague reps were within that 10 days. She states I was treated no different to anyone else but I dont agree, If flexibility was spoken about to all staff I should have been spoken to aswell. There was no communication unless I initiated it. It took 12 days to send me the hours over to see if I was eligible to apply for redundancy if still. I should never have been called after submitting a formal grievance letter to be told it would be upheld the conversation should have happened at a grievance meeting where I could have put my points across and have the conversation on record. After the call I emailed HR to ask for the manager to email me what she had said in the call so I had it in writting so which she responded hi please let me know when you are available for a formal meeting. I explained to you that you have been treated to differently to anyone else. Im honestly at a loss of what to do, I feel if I call a meeting now im basically appealing a decision for a meeting I havent even had yet.

That sounds shocking. I would contact Pregnant and Screwed and ACAS

As pp said talk to ACAS and pregnant then screwed.

Go to the formal meeting but make sure you take a timeline of exactly when and how you were notified, all the chasing you had to do and the actual dates information was given to other staff.

If there have been any “all staff” meetings you were entitled to attend as a KIT day include those into the time line and whether you were given the opportunity to attend.
