Worked for a company for the last 7 months. Been a nightmare from the start. Due to issues with the company being targeted online we have had issues with our employee systems. I have had no access to my work rota, no payslips etc since I’ve started. I am at the end of my tether with it now. Manager not helpful at all. 6 months of chasing this up with him and hr and they just keep passing it back to each other. I’m having to harass colleagues every week just to find out when I’m working next. I’m at the point where I just don’t want to go back now.. Everything feels a battle. I’m just wondering if it is a legal requirement to work my notice? I feel so burnt out with other things going on too. I’m struggling to force myself to keep trying when it’s dragged on this long?

You would need to work your notice, however if you’re feeling burnt out you could maybe get a fit note from your GP to cover your notice period?

They can't force you to work your notice. The only way they can enforce it is to take you to court for the cost of the notice period not worked, but I don't know if I've ever heard of a company doing this. Certainly not a company who is as chaotic as this one sounds!

I would just quit effective immediately citing their poor management and failure to provide payslips - which is illegal, btw.

If you wanted to be less firm, you could phone in sick and follow it promptly with a resignation letter, citing work stress caused by their poor management and failure to resolve long standing issues.

They must be able to provide a copy payslip by email, if their automated system doesn’t work. I’m shocked that they haven’t done that, if they know the systems aren’t working properly.

I would put in writing your complaints to your manager and Hr and state that you can no longer work for a company that refuses to provide payslips. Do you know if you are owed any holiday pay?

Thanks so much for your replies. I have considered contacting my gp. The stress is having a real impact on my sleep and mental health at the moment. I just feel like I have exhausted all my energy with this situation now. I haven’t taken any holiday in the time I’ve been employed here so should have some days earned. Can I legally take the holiday during the notice period? I’ve always had such a good working relationship with my previous managers. Though they were all competent managers who communicated effectively. I have kept all proof of my efforts in resolving this case which also shows my manager has not replied to anything. I’m heavily leaning towards the email of resignation, effective immediately but just don’t want any problems going forward.
