Hi there,

I'm in a rural area of Nova Scotia, Canada, with no other consultants around.

I'm dying to give Usborne a try, but don't have a lot of cash to start.

The basic pack this month only has about 6 books- is this enough to have my first open house ?

Any advice on conducting that first open house ? I guess I'm wondering how to inspire people to buy when you only have a few books on hand, and a catalogue to look at. Should I focus on several books by age range ?

I've already made a list of more than 20 folks to invite if I do this. One has already offered to host a party for me. I'd also like to eventually get into the local schools, and liase with homeschool groups.

Sorry for rambling. I know I'll get some training advice in my starter pack, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has done this. My aim is not to make my forune, but to have a little 'out of the house' fun, make a little cash, and build my home library. Is this a reasonable expectation ?

Hugs,
Pam.

Oh, forgot to mention, I'm three months along with child # 4, and can't wait to stop feeling so tired

Hello Pam
I just found your message!
Yes Usborne is perfect for you. The brand is already known and loved by parents and the usual phrase potential customers say when I tell them I do Usborne is "Oh I love Usborne Books"
The first book sale I did I only had my starter pack and a few of my own Usborne books that the children had played with. I took over £100!
Sounds great if you already have 20 potential invitees and a potential party!
There is lots of support on the Usborne website which you will get access to when you join and also you will get support from the person who recruited you and there are also some online support networks.
I joined in January and have already got nearly 200 books, made a couple of hundred quid and had lots and lots of fun!
If you want any more help or advice, please e mail me!
Claire
