Change of NHS placement

Hi, i am on a NHS funded course and unfortunately things have not gone to plan and i need to change placement.

I am currently having discussions about my finding being moved and so on. I dont know if i should be wary of anything in terms of benefits/pay progression/pension etc

the options are a) complete my notice period and NHSE funding yo be transfered from one trust to another

b) move to new trust on a honorary contract and current trust to keep funding and put in place a shared placement partner contract.

i dont know anything about the NHS and i am worried about inadvertently losing out on something… money is already very tight!
thank you!

Change placement as in location or subject?
What's happened?

I too am confused what you mean OP?

Is there a new trust willing to take you on? With banding it shouldn’t make any difference but you’ll need to look at minimising any gaps between the two for continual service benefits. I’d also be asking about increment dates, but that will set to the point you finish your course if an increase in banding comes with it.

It’s hard to say without knowing more details.

Ah sorry, a change of location, a change of trust, same position. i am on a fixed contract. The posts are funded through NHSE.

what should i ask about incremental dates? I have been a band 6 for the past three years. I think i did go up a little bit after two years but not sure. How do i check and will it be the same in every NHS trust?
and how do i check i wont lose the time worked on that particular banding.

also what is the maximum time you can take off (as in unemeployed) in between two NHS contracts ? Ive heard two weeks but again not sure where to check?

Has a trust offered to take you on and is university supportive?

two years at band six is the increment point, you’d have to negotiate and justify not going in as bottom of the band. Typically nhs you start at bottom of the band for a new post at the same level. It will absolutely depend on the trust and some will honour your increment date and some won’t. I think increment date is on ESR.

you will need to ask your new trust what they are offering you.

@FurForksSakeThanks - yes trust has offered a space and uni is facilitating the move.
i will have a look at ESR.
Thanks for this. I will make sure they keep me on the same increment.
I know its not a lot of money but i suppose if i move back to the bottom of the banding, it will also affect my pension contribution. (I dont think there are any other benefits)
