Life after Law

I've been a lawyer for over 20 years and I HATE it. I've worked in debt recovery, PI and property. I've stuck with it as it pays the bills and my firm are pretty flexible. It's worked with my other commitments.
Kids are older now. I can't do this for another 20 years.
If you escaped law, what do you do now?

Compliance. Qualified in law and worked in house for what feels like too long. Moved to compliance in a heavily regulated sector and now earn c200k. Far less stress and allowed to just get on with my job with relatively minimal interference. WFH most of the time too which helps as I have a young DC. I probably have the best work life balance I’ve ever had since I worked in a bar as a student!

Civil servant (not in a legal role, although that might be an option for you?)

@York19what sector may I ask? Sounds amazing!

Try and go in-house. Is it a possibility for you? Your specialisms aren’t ideally suited but still might be a possibility. From there you can branch into different things - compliance as mentioned, risk, or just stay within law but totally different vibe.
