DH was sacked in 2024 - long and boring scenario, but up for case management with several contentious issues.

We are self representing - Respendent - a multi million pound company has hired a barrister for case management.

So nervous.

Any advice?

If you haven’t already, check on your home insurance in case legal advice is covered.

Have they offered a settlement or discussed one at all?

Thank you, no legal cover on house insurance - I just can't believe the respondent has brought in a barrister for a case management hearing.

It’s not particularly surprising they have legal advice and representation, many companies would do. It may work in your favour to have someone knowledgeable there.

If DH is particularly concerned or anxious it may be worth starting a conversation about a settlement agreement.

But many claimants self represent at employment tribunals and the judge will be understanding of that and will give some pointers and guidance where appropriate.
