Increase in salary under these circumstances?

I started a new senior role 6 months ago in a new company.

I have a team of 4 right now but my line manager has agreed a restructure with the business which means my team would grow to 13 people.

I will have one new direct report and the scope of the disciplines that fall under my remit will also increase. Half the team will be new recruits.

A few of the people are dotted lines into me but I am responsible for their output.

I was told when I joined that my salary was at the top of the end of the scale for my level.

Would love advice on whether this would be considered an increase in scope for role and also whether I should still ask for a salary increase or even a promotion despite my short time here?

Within that team of 13 people, are you going to have managers under you that would then be responsible for the others? Or just a scale up? If it’s you managing managers as a senior and then managers managing the team below but their output falls under your responsibility as a department then I don’t think a pay rise or a promotion would be appropriate here.

Always ask or you won’t get. Write down how your role will change and what additional responsibilities you’ll have then have a meeting with your manager to discuss. If the answers no and a reason given, you could ask to come up with a plan for your progression and promotion so you know what you’re working towards.

I'll have 5-6 direct reports (manager/director level), currently have 3. Some but not all manage other people too.

I'll have a whole other discipline outside my current scope (and three team members that go with that).

Thank you yes that's my instinct too. It's only because I'm so new and I've been told I'm at the ceiling that I hesitated.
