Employment changing job role

Hi, I requested a role change in my job due to a change in my personal circumstances and went through the process of OH and compassionate transfer whilst off work. This took much longer than it should have and now almost 6 months in. My employer has offered me roles that are unsuitable in a lower pay bracket where no qualifications are required(my current role took 4 years to qualify for) and for the roles on my level she has put 'can be redeployed back to my previous role at any time at short notice' in the job description even though I can nolonger work in that role and was granted a Compassionate transfer on this basis. There is also only a few lines describing the alternative roles and no information about office location etc. I feel like everything my employer is doing about covering their backs rather than genuinely offering me a suitable alternative role. Can anyone advise/give opinion on this?

They don't have to offer a reedeployment at all -unless your condition could be classed as a disability (but if it's your personal circumstances changing, it doesn't sound as though it is) then redeployment should be considered as a reasonable adjustment, but if there isn't an appropriate role vacant to move into, employers don't have to create one.

It sounds as though they are trying to meet you halfway to be honest.

It seems they are trying to be fair. Sorry.

Sorry but I agree. There is no such thing as a compassionate transfer - this is something they have chosen to allow, not that they are obliged to. If you can no longer do your job in most circumstances your option is to find another one and/or resign. They are not required to find you anything, never mind a like for like transfer.

Can you provide any information about why your current role is not longer suitable for you. That might open up some suggestions, although it is unlikely to change the basic answers.

Wow, I can’t believe that your employer even offer a “compassionate transfer”. Most absolutely wouldn’t.

You haven’t given much info as to the background, OP, but it sounds like they’ve been very fair here.

Just for comparison, my (very large) employer no longer considers transfer like this at all as they’re too problematic. A number of people who were found a new role at their own request quickly turned it into “well, I’m unhappy and not performing and it’s the company’s fault because they moved me”.

It's an absolute land mine for employers.

Reads like nhs. Maybe an ambulance trust.

Based solely on what you’ve said they are offering what they can, which is way less than most employers would think to.
