Company avoiding pension contributions

DH is working for a very small company (9 staff). It has a lot of management problems but that's a separate point.
The job is well paid but they pay salaried roles irregularly and almost always weeks late.

DH has been in the role 11 months and the company has not sorted pensions. No provider, no employee or employer contributions. They keep saying "it's being worked on". They can't explain what the delay is though nor when it will be fixed.

What would you do?

I would report to the pension regulator. Every company is sent letters periodically and have to submit declarations to show they are complying so they're either lying or they haven't caught up with them yet.

I would leave. Then report them. You can bet they’re not paying his paye tax to hmrc either. No decent or solvent company ever pays salaries weeks late.

Look for another job. Any company that can't pay the absolute basics like payroll and pensions on time is beyond saving.

I did not know this. How often do they have to show they are compliant? Company is just over a year old

They have to re-enrol every 3 years and are sent regular letters for this. I've just checked and they are supposed to set a scheme up as soon as they start employing people, there is no grace period.
If you type in the pensions regulator and search report your employer you can do it online.

The NHS did salaries late? Not as a regular occurrence surely? I can understand delay when start or very occasional HR cock up, or additional hours needing approval plus paid a month in arrears, but not regularly paying salary late?

I'm surprised to hear the NHS paid salaries late... was the salary actually paid through the NHS or through an agency or other third party. I never had my NHS salary paid late.

@ToeSucker make sure he has payslips and keep them. If for any reason they fail to pay his deductions of NI and Tax to HMRC his payslips and P60 are evidence they were deducted. This is important!

WRT NHS I can believe overtime etc. may be paid in subsequent months but not paying on the set payday would be highly unusual for such a large employer.
