Part time advice on contract and days

I have been offered a charity position quite promptly (which I had not expected). So I am hoping for some recommendations on things to consider for a part time role.

For example, would certain days of the week be best?
Should I ask for certain inclusions into my contract?

The role has some flexible working. The hourly pay is less than I was before children but not by a significant amount. The pension is much lower. It would fit nicely around school hours.
Thanks.

How part time is it ? If it fits round school hours and is only on some days ?

The question of which days is asked on here pretty often - it might be worth you doing an advanced search as similar questions do come up most weeks.

Depending on how you Bank Holidays and AL is worked out, it usually makes sense for a Monday to be a NWD

Some people like to split the week as it means they aren't away from work for too big a gap.
Some people like NWDs to be Fridays and Mondays as it makes for a nice long weekend.
If you need a Nursery place, remember most people choose a Friday off if they can so those days are easier for childcare
Some people like to be in on a particular day because of what happens at work (either a 'relaxed Friday' approach or maybe the day the Team meetings are held)
Some people like to be off on a particular day because that's when their child's school holds their events mostly.

Lots and lots of 'it depends' but those are most of the typical answers on these thread. You have to see what applies to your circumstances.

It is under 20 hours a week with flexible times. I did check the other threads and best days of the week depends on the employer's way of calculating bank holiday entitlement.

If anyone has any other recommendations for things to consider for part time employment that would be appreciated.

It’s best not to work Mondays due to bank holidays. You still end up with the same amount of time off overall, but you have more flexibility to take time off when you want if you don’t work Mondays. That’s assuming the place you will be working for is closed on bank holidays.

Personally, my preference is to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. You feel like you get a good headspace away from work when you have 4 days off in a row and I don’t like to have a day off in the week and then know I have to go back to work again the next day. And I find Fridays are sometimes a more relaxed day and nicer to work than Monday.
