Putting CV on sites like TotalJobs - total waste of time?

Trouble is, I'm not always sure what to search for (job title wise) and end up scrolling through hundreds of ads, checking some, but there are so many that don't fit. While I will continue to do that, I know there is the option to also put a CV on the site. In my mind I think, that might be worthwhile because then a recruiter could see if I could be a match for their role....but on the other, I'm thinking that recruiters probably never, ever look at the CVs on there and just whack a new ad up each time.

Anyone got any insight?

I think it all depends on experience. Sadly the job market is pretty flat right now with online jobs that don’t even exist. If possible always check directly on the company site, that way you know you aren’t wasting your time. Good luck

It is worth putting your CV up ime. Recruiters do call if they think you’re a potential fit for one of their roles and then you’re on their database. Remember also that not every job ends up being advertised. Your CV just needs to be clear what type of role / industry you’re looking for.

I was phoned out of the blue by a recruiter, who’d seen my CV online. I’d forgotten I’d put it on there as it was several years previous to that. I got the job he’d matched me to. It was different to previous work I’d done, but my skills aligned with it. I would say it’s worth doing. I’m really enjoying my new line of work.
