Think my boss wants me to leave - no contract

I have been in my current role for almost a year, I have never been given a contract.
I had been there 6 days when my colleague left and then about 6 weeks later a new person started - given the title of office manager. She has known the boss around 20 years from a previous job and they get on like a house on fire .

I have always got the feeling she does not like me and tries to belittle me sometimes. She points out all of my mistakes - even though she makes similar mistakes sometimes . I am new to the industry and she has lots of experience.

Anyway - she has been having meetings with me under the pretence that she was helping . On Thursday the big boss called me
to a meeting and asked if I thought this was the job for me. Before she joined I thought I did but now I don’t like it so much . I was so happy to get the job.

Do you think they are trying to get me to leave ? What should I do ? I am not sure what to do as I don’t have a contract ?

Tell them you you love the job. Tell them you’re doing the best you can and ask for any pointers. Apply for as many jobs as you can! Good luck.

It may not have been given to you in writing, but you do have a contract, simply by the fact that they expect you to turn up to work for a certain numbers of hours and in return you expect them to pay you a certain amount.

Employment contracts: Overview - GOV.UK

In the absence of written evidence to the contrary, then statutory rules would apply to things like minimum wage, holiday entitlement, redundancy pay and the amount of notice you and they need to give.

With less than two years service, they can simply ask you to leave without having to give a reason, but they need to give you at least a weeks notice unless you are being dismissed for gross misconduct.
