Career switch into policy and advocacy - Advice needed

I’m currently volunteering in a campaigns role for a national charity and I love it.

I’ve wanted to make a switch from my long marketing career into a policy/advocacy/campaigns role for a while and now I’m committed to the jump. I am almost certain my career has given me transferable skills, not least because I’ve worked in the public sector for a decade and I have charity experience too.

Can anyone recommend any recruiters, networks, respected training courses (particularly on policy) or any other tips to help me make the switch?

Thanks so much!

Personal experience doing local campaigns.

Becoming a local counsellor.

Some universities do courses about community based campaigning.

I don't work in the field but have observed there's lobbying government and working with communities - both sides important. Some crossover with research teams.

Very highly competitive, hundreds of applicants per role. Policy wise - depends on area you want to work in. I think Birkbeck is quite good for short adult courses. I'm sure they do a Public Health Policy course.
