I have been in my current job for almost 20 years but due to personal issues I have had to resign due to the organisation not being willing to assist me with flexible working.
Anyway my question is that I wanted to tell my team that I was leaving on the 19/8 as soon as possible but my manager as asked if I can wait until the job advert goes live ( possibly on the 1/8) which only leaves me two weeks and I will be away for one of them.
I just don’t think it’s fair I have a lot of people to tell.
I also don’t want to cause a bad environment, what can I do? ( Based in the UK)

Do you work in a physical office or remotely? Sounds like the best idea would be to send out a mass email and then follow up in person with those that you are closest to.

This isn't unusual. Last month my firm made redundancies in a cohort that included a large number of people with over 20 years service and they were told to tell no one until 3 days before the leaving date.
Standard practice in my industry is a bulk email. You can say things like 'unable to communicate earlier', 'so sad to be leaving', ' if circumstances were different'... Etc etc. tell your colleagues in the email without using the actual words that you'd rather be staying but management have made it impossible, and that you were asked not to say anything. But really really nicely so none is left with a negative impression.
All the best, hope you find something better.
