I don't know all the shorthand people are using as I'm new here so bare with me a bit please...

I am currently a full-time career for my partner but I am really wanting to go back to work! I currently receive carers allowance, he gets PIP and we receive UC also, we do get our rent and council tax paid too.. I'm just wondering how many hours I could work and not be worse off and would I still get carers allowance or would that have to stop too??

You can earn a maximum of £139 per week after NI and income tax and it not impact your carers allowance. Any more and your allowance is reduced / stopped. Sadly you need to look very carefully at this as all your benefits might be impacted which is a shame as working outside of caring responsibilities can be very beneficial for carers for their MH / self worth / confidence etc. Perhaps speak to Citizens Advice or look at the carers UK web site for help and guidance - speaking from personal experience Carers UK have been a great resource and you can speak to them.

Earnings threshold for Carers allowance is £196 per week.
If your dh gets the LCWRA element on your UC claim then you will have a work allowance meaning that a proportion of your earnings are disregarded before your UC is reduced by earnings. There is no earnings limit for UC carers element. So it may better to stop claiming carers allowance if you want to earn more than £196 per week.

Thank you, I think I'm going to get in touch with someone and find out exactly what I can do, it would be so much more beneficial for myself, mental health wise..
