Looking for some advice re: restructuring/responsibilities and how I should handle this meeting

So it was announced in May there would be a £5bn saving to staff costs. I am currently in a team of 4, on £41k. The team was cut from 4 people to 1 and the salary reduced to £35k.

I was successful in getting the post (honestly not that I particularly want it at this stage, the whole restructure comms were abysmal)

Here’s where I need some advice. In my first consultation meeting I was told responsibilities would be reduced, hence the reduced salary. For clarity I’m an Exec Assistant currently supporting an Exec - my colleagues are leaving, so I will now be supporting CEO and 4 Execs (so I really can’t see how responsibilities will be reduced).

However I cannot see who is going to pick up all the work, and it’s worrying me. Would I be within my rights to go into my last consultation meeting with a list of all the things I do now and ask how they will be reduced, as if I’m expected to continue working on the same things, I will be expecting the same pay. The job description is very vague, with ‘any other duties as required’ at the end.

Or should I thank my lucky stars I have a job and suck it up? It’s been a horrible few months, I am relieved I have a salary but am dreading starting this ‘new’ post.

I am applying for other things, but the job market is awful at the moment.

This sounds dreadful! What has your Union said about it? Ultimately at the end of the day if you’re employed for, say, 39 hours a week, you do whatever work you can during those hours and anything that can’t be fitted in gets left.
I would be asking “I need a priority list of tasks once I start my new role because obviously no-one is able to do the tasks of 4 people”.

Hang on for the same money and no greater hours or responsibilities. You can only do what you can do, and they can only do what you agree to do. Don't accept a pay cut.

While looking for another job, as they sound unreliable and a financial risk.

Thanks both,

@spoonbillstretford unfortunately as it's a 'new' role, they've changed the salary so I'm not able to remain on the same money I'm on now. I've fought it tooth and nail but have been told that's the salary, take it or leave it.

@Soontobe60 we don't have a union. It's a charitable organisation that I've worked for for 1.5 years, and I never had any issues, but this whole experience has been appalling. There are volunteer employee reps, and I'm bringing one with me to my final consultation meeting. This is really good advice - I will be asking for a priority list.
