To send my boss a list of achievements?

I recently didn’t get an internal promotion at work and was really disappointed. I’m now on a mission to do more self-promotion (which I never do) in order to ensure I’m in a better place for the next opportunity.

I’ve been putting together a list of my achievements since the interview last month and am considering sending it to my manager, just to say this is the great feedback I’ve had since the interview and I hope I’m on the right track.

Is that a good idea or will I look silly? I’m very inexperienced and self-conscious with this sort of thing, but essentially I want to ensure my work gets the recognition it deserves without looking desperate or coming across badly.

Unfortunately the company doesn’t do appraisals as it’s only small, so I’m not able to share feedback like this regularly (if ever).

Any advice would be gratefully received, thank you.

Personally I wouldn't . If another opportunity arises I would attempt to weave it into the application eg covering letter or list of achievements on CV.

I would not do this, you are trying to force the recognition that you think you deserve from YOUR perspective.

Back off and apply for a promotion the next time.

This is encouraged in other places, 'sharing your wins'. I would do it personally, especially as there isn't an appraisal process. I probably would do it as an update/review of the week or.month. What has gone well /what the challenges were/what you are planning for next week or month.

Sorry, I didn’t make this clear in my first post, but it wouldn’t be from my perspective. I’d be sending feedback from clients - so when people tell me they’re happy with my work I’ll let my manager know. At the moment they never hear the positive feedback because there is so little opportunity to share it.

Perhaps start in 121s sharing wins/achievements since the last time you spoke, if you get positive feedback then forward it to your boss at the time so you start to build a consistent flow of achieving / delivering.

Absolutely do this. They are not giving you the recognition you deserve so it’s up to you to prompt them.

Id say that you though they would want to be aware of the feedback you are receiving. Good on you.

Maybe book a one to one with your manager every month to discuss achievements, feedback, progress, etc.

I will not send an email or do it more than every month.

If somesent this to me i would politely tell them to stop i would mention to try again at the appropriate time and the application would be considered then

I would suggest that before you charge in doing this, you get detailed feedback from the interview process and reflect on it first.
