How much annual leave might I have left?

I’ve started a new local authority job where nothing was really set up in advance for me including my annual leave, I can’t access the online forms yet.

But I need to book some days off for the summer holidays.

I have 30 days entitlement from April. Started on the 2nd July - can anyone tell me roughly how many days I have?

Thank you

There are websites that you can use for this ie https://www.theholidaytracker.co.uk/

By my rough calculations, 22.5 days. Not an expert though!

Is the 30 days inclusive of the bank holidays? And are there any Christmas shutdown days allocated to your entitlement? Also 30 days from April but when in April? 1st April? 30th? Assuming your holidays start 1st April and you have 8 bank holidays in your 30 day allocation. 22/365 x 273 (days between July this year and 1st April this year) it's just shy of 16.5 days.

As its government I would expect the 30 days to be excluding bank holidays ….. but that does depend on the departments policy and how leave entitlement is worded

If it’s pure leave, then a very rough calculation is the 30 divided by 12 months, then either multiply by 10 or 11 months depending on if it is from 1 April or 30 April - Which would result in 25 or 22.5 days. (This ignores your starting on 2nd July, but it’s a rough calculation and policy should round up your entitlement)

Then remember to reserve some for potential block periods such as christmas

As with other posters it can change depending on how it is calculated
If bank holidays are included then you need to deduct them, calculate the leave proportion then add back future bank holidays

You need the policy document on leave, and they should have a calculator/calculators for partial years and non standard hours

Some places don't allow annual leave during the probationary period unless they are honouring booked leave from the previous job.

Thanks both, it doesn’t include bank holidays or Xmas day.
