If you with in an office
Do you have a dress code at all?
Is it normal to say the length of a skirt or dress?

I think ours is just a vague sentence on “professional work attire” in the handbook. But most people wear jeans.

I’ve never worked anywhere that specified a skirt length.

Ours is also 'professional work attire' which means no jeans, no shorts, no very short skirts, no plunging necklines.

Most women wear some kind of trousers and a top, or a dress. With jackets in winter.

Some barristers chambers and consulting houses can be quite prescriptive over dress codes.

Saying length of skirt is daft though. I am 5'8", I have very long legs. Skirts that look outrageous on me would look fine on someone who is 5'. Even at school it was relative, between 2" above and 2" below the knee.

It's just getting ridiculous

Very informal dress code where I am, just no offensive slogans.
In reality most people wear something along the lines of jeans and top, today I went in an above the knee whistles dress with sleeves to the elbow and another colleague had a long green skirt and white tshirt - cant remember what anyone else was wearing but I was a big fan of the long green skirt so asked her where she got it!
If we have meetings I will make more of an effort but for days when I’m just sitting in the office I’ll be comfortable and dressed appropriately for the weather. To be fair I’m still dressed the same when having meetings - just might do my hair that day rather than leaving it wild!
