Silly question incoming re notice period

Good morning.

Well aware this is probably a very silly question, however I'm going to ask it anyway!
I was offered a new job yesterday, great! I need to give 4 weeks notice to my current employer which I will do today. I currently work Mon, Wed, Fri, would my last working day be Monday 4th August or would I be expected to work on Wednesday 6th August as my last day?
Thanks in advance ☺️

If you’re giving your notice today it’s 4 weeks from that (calendar) date

Don’t have your notice in until you’ve got a contract :)

6 August will be your final working day if you hand your notice in today.

You’ve had incorrect advice here. Your notice period starts the day AFTER you give notice. You cannot give notice on a Wednesday to finish on a Wednesday!

Chances are it will be fine if your employer doesn’t know this either, but I wanted to highlight that you’ve been wrongly advised.

Depending on any annual leave entitlement you have left, you might be able to leave sooner than the last day of your notice.

Note as well that 4 weeks notice and one month notice aren’t the same thing (4 weeks is 28 days, whereas a month is 28/29 days in February and 30/31 days in other months) so check your contract wording.

Congratulations - hope the new role goes well 😊

Yes you can, because the day after today is Thursday. Therefore, op will give four weeks' notice that each run Thursday to Wednesday and her last day will be Wednesday 6th August.
