Sinking after 12+ months of trying to find a job

After leaving my last role due to redundancy/restructure/closure of the business, I've had around 18-20 Hiring Manager stage interviews for 18-20 different roles over the last 12 months, and around 17 other initial screenings/conversations and spoken to around 22 recruiters within my space/industry within the last 12 months, Some of these I've been successful to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th stages etc but never quite reached an offer stage, Others the job itself has been paused, changed or given to an internal candidate or former colleague of the hiring manager, every scenario I've experienced.

I had a second stage/in-person interview last Friday and was offered the role at the end which I couldn't believe, and spent the weekend thinking I had a new role and mentally preparing, only for them to email me on Monday morning saying the offer was withdrawn because they'd discussed internally and changed the role...I couldn't believe it and have never experienced anything like it, I am in my early 30s and have worked since I was 17 and I cannot get a job in my field, I have really reached breaking point mentally, emotionally and financially and I cannot carry on for much longer, I feel so ill.

Would really like to hear from/chat to anyone else experiencing the same/similar or who can relate, It feels very lonely.

OP, I would look at other sectors or even consider retraining or starting your own small business.

Also, I tend to think that companies who have convoluted recruitment processes are time wasters.

If I am looking for a job I never engage with a company that does more than a 2 stage interview.

As a senior manager myself I have recruited a lot of staff and I have never had the need to drag the process on beyond two interviews.

So I would also be a bit more selective about what jobs you pursue and try to spot the time wasters early on, so you are not so disappointed every time.
