Is this normal recruiter email ‘reply above this line’

Applied for job last week. I got automated email mins after confirming they received application.

Yesterday I get an email from the name of line manager of role I applied for. I checked via LinkedIn (subject title was job role and company), inviting me for video interview and telling me to share my availability. I replied within two hours and still today no reply, starting to wonder if it was legit.

It wasn’t an official company email, the email address was (jumbled combo of characters) inbound.workable.mail . com

The start of the email mentions “Reply above this line”

I replied as if it were a normal email via Gmail (because I presumed my response is obviously above the line?) and I’ve not received any response.

I rarely get shortlisted so naturally suspicious. There was no ‘official’ signature at end of their message either.

Could it be scam email?

Did I reply too late they’ve already moved on? (I was working yesterday and in meeting so couldn’t reply asap). Message had said “Please let me know your availability for an online meeting this week”

If it was genuine email, did I maybe reply wrong - was I supposed to put my wording message in their original email but above the line if that makes sense?

Surely there's a phone number on the email or the footer for the person?
Or just ring the switchboard and ask to speak to whoever they are or ask for their direct number?

I don't really see how it could be a scam. I mean if it was why would they ignore your response? They'd be back in touch trying to do the next stage of the scam? I mean it could be a shit company with a shit job offer.

True! There’s unfortunately no contact number or ‘real’ company email. No official signature footer (other than saying Sincerely, their name typed)

I’m not even sure if they were able to see my response as the ‘reply above this line’ is confusing me (I’ve never had an email like this). I presumed surely anytime you send a reply to an email by default my email will appear above the line

Hmm. Frankly it sounds rather unprofessional from their side. But can you not just call the main number of that firm and ask to speak to the email sender?

If it was sent from Workable; it can often retain some of the formatting - your new email will have made it through, it was "above the line". That will also be why there's no email signature. It's not an email that they've written to send to you, if you see what I mean, it's a message they've sent from inside their hiring portal.

I can't confirm whether the Workable account is legit and belongs to the school, but you haven't done anything wrong here.

Thanks both, I couldn’t seem to find a number (only has website contact form to be used for clients or client email address)

To be on safe side I sent another email putting the message directly ‘above the line’ instead of in normal reply format just incase my first hadn’t been readable but still no response.

Does anyone know etiquette for recruitment standards is confirming your availability 2 hour late seen as a red flag? (I have gmail notifications on my phone but was genuinely busy at the time)

Well they replied at least very blunt email ‘Please see attached invitation’ and it’s a teams links to “join the meeting now” / meeting ID.

She’s not put the meeting date, time or an actual calendar invitation (every other interview usually they make the time very clear)
maybe it’s this bloody workable format ruining it.

Is it acceptable for me to ask what time the interview is or will that make me look stupid? When I click on the teams link I worry it will say I’ve ‘started’ the meeting

No OP. Don’t ask what time. You save the invite in your calendar and it will appear at the right date/time.

Ah no I already did email asking :( I made another thread about this and had quite a lot of suggestions but none of them seemed to work

Unfortunately there is no option to accept the invite or save it in my calendar. There’s not actually an attachment it’s just the teams footer which allows you to join now as a guest but even when clicking that doesn’t say actual date/time, just says you’ve joined early and organiser will let you in when it starts.
I tried logging into my teams with my email first then checking calendar but not there either.
